RevWorks applies state-of-the-art statistical algorithms to collected part data in order to extract best-fit geometries for the features measured. The fitting process allows users to collect many sample points for a single feature, which lessens the impact of data noise and surface irregularities, resulting in greater measurement precision.

RevWorks ProbeManager and AlignmentManager
The RevWorks ProbeManager and AlignmentManager are powerful tools for managing probe calibration and creating precision part alignments. Documents created can be saved for protection against system shut-downs and moved between working systems for greater production portability.
Create and manage multiple probe and probe set definitions. RevWorks ProbeManager works interactively with each supported digitizing device to provide a comprehensive tool for defining, qualifying, verifying and storing probe definitions. You can easily switch between qualified probes without losing part registration. For devices that support accurate probe interchange, you can even switch probes without the need to requalify.
Create and manage multiple datums and datum sets using a variety of datum types to create a common coordinate system between SolidWorks and your digitizer. You can also create digitizing environments larger than the reach of your digitizing device with the integrated Leap Manager™ which tracks how you move a digitizer around a large part. Datum points:
- 3 – Point – Digitize 3 points to define datum plane and part orientation.
- 3 – Sphere – Digitize 3 spheres define datum plane and part orientation.
- Custom (3–2–1) – Digitize part geometry to define datum plane and part orientation.
Data Point Collection – Single Point and Scan Point Modes
RevWorks offers two options for collecting the point data used to make measurements and create features: Single Point Mode and Scan Point Mode. While operating in Single Point Mode, one press of a key or button causes one point to be taken. Data collected for two-dimensional features in Single Point Mode may be taken any distance from the current sketch plane and the data is automatically projected to the currently active sketch plane. For three-dimensional features the data is collected directly into a SolidWorks three-dimensional sketch.
The Scan Point Mode now allows you to capture data using SnapScan™ or freeform scanning. SnapScan limits data collection to a user-definable collection band buffering the active sketch plane, allowing users to accurately collect data on a sectional plane without having actual markings or edges on the part to work from. With freeform scanning, you have the option to apply interval filters, which limit the data collected by definable measures such as time or distance. Freeform scanning allows you to collect streaming data on a freeform surface or along a three-dimensional path and control the amount of information captured. These methods give you great flexibility for collecting part features and characteristics.
